50 ft fiber DisplayPort 1.4 cable

The SMUGDESK fiber optic cable carries DisplayPort 1.4 signals over 15 metres with a 32.4 Gbps bandwidth ceiling. It targets PC builders and AV installers who need 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz links across rooms or through conduit where copper cables would fail. Gold-plated connectors and a hybrid glass-fibre plus copper construction keep the signal clean at distance.

Replaces copper runs beyond 3 m

Standard copper DisplayPort cables lose bandwidth after a few metres, forcing a drop to 4K 60 Hz or lower. This fibre link restores the full 32.4 Gbps pipe so 7680×4320 at 60 Hz and 3840×2160 at 144 Hz become practical again. The upgrade is worth it only when the source and sink both support DP 1.4 and the run exceeds reliable copper length.

Directional plug-in, no drivers

One connector is marked Source and the other Display; reversing them breaks the link. The slim 4-core fibre jacket bends easily for in-wall pulls, but the hybrid cores must not be kinked sharply. No software is required — connect the correct ends, ensure both devices advertise DP 1.4, and the link trains at the highest common rate.

Questions about this item

Will the 15 m fiber cable fit through a standard conduit or tight wall cavity?

The hybrid fiber and copper construction is slimmer than traditional copper DisplayPort cables, making it easier to route through confined spaces and conduit.

Which end of the directional cable plugs into the graphics card and which goes to the monitor?

Connect the connector marked "Source" to the PC or laptop and the connector marked "Display" to the monitor; reversing them will prevent signal transmission.

Do the 24K gold-plated connectors or the zinc alloy shells need any periodic maintenance?

No routine maintenance is required; the gold plating resists corrosion and the zinc alloy shell prevents cracking under normal use.
