SMUGDESK

SMUGDESK M.2 NGFF to SATA 3.0 Expansion Card B+M Key / M-Key NVMe to 5/6 Port SATA III 6Gbps Controller Riser

SKU CH-Q987-B9PD0

Adds 5 or 6 SATA 3.0 ports through an M.2 slot for HDD and SSD expansion

  • Converts a single M.2 NGFF slot into 5 or 6 SATA 3.0 ports
  • Supports 6Gbps transmission for stable SATA HDD and SSD performance
  • Works with B+M Key and M-Key M.2 modules for broad compatibility
  • Compact riser design fits varied chassis layouts and installs easily
  • Reliable controller enables 24/7 operation with plug-and-play setup

M.2 to SATA expansion card

This SMUGDESK adapter turns an M.2 NGFF slot into five or six SATA 3.0 6Gbps ports. It accepts both B+M Key and M-Key modules for broad compatibility. The compact riser design fits tight chassis layouts and supports 24/7 operation without extra drivers.

Storage builders and NAS upgrades

Ideal for users adding multiple SATA drives to a system with a spare M.2 socket. Not suited for builds that lack an M.2 NGFF connector or that require NVMe passthrough for the installed module. Buyers needing direct NVMe speed should look elsewhere.

SATA 3.0 6Gbps per port

Each port delivers up to 6Gbps bandwidth for connected hard drives and SSDs. The controller chip maintains steady signal quality across all ports. This throughput figure is the key metric for matching drive performance to the adapter.

Questions about this item

What M.2 slot keying does my motherboard need to accept this expansion card?

The card fits both B+M Key and M-Key M.2 slots, so either keying on your motherboard will work.

Will my existing SATA 3.0 hard drives and SSDs run at full speed when connected to this card?

Yes, each of the 5 or 6 ports delivers SATA 3.0 6Gbps bandwidth, matching the native speed of your current drives.

How can I verify the controller is operating correctly after installation?

The card uses a reliable controller chip designed for 24/7 continuous operation; once the drives appear in BIOS or OS disk management with no errors, it is functioning as intended.
