  • Cotton-braided PVC jacket adds water resistance and a firm grip
  • Thunderbolt 1 and 2 compatible for direct MacBook hookup

Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 cable

This 2-metre cable connects Mini DisplayPort sources to standard DisplayPort displays and works in the opposite direction too. It is built for laptops and desktops that need 8K or high-refresh 4K output. Gold-plated connectors and a braided jacket add durability for daily carry.

Plug-and-play with gold-plated ends

The cable requires no driver installation on Windows or macOS. A common issue is attempting to drive a Mini DisplayPort monitor from a full-size DisplayPort source when the monitor’s Mini DP port does not support video input. Verify that the display’s Mini DP port accepts video before purchasing.

DisplayPort 1.4 bandwidth ceiling

The HBR3 link tops out at 32.4 Gbps, limiting 8K to 60 Hz and 4K to 144 Hz. Higher refresh rates such as 240 Hz or 390 Hz are only possible at lower resolutions like 1080p. Thunderbolt 1 and 2 ports on compatible MacBooks can carry the signal, but the cable cannot exceed the DisplayPort 1.4 specification.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the cable is delivering 8K at 60 Hz after I connect it?

Open your OS display settings or the monitor on-screen menu and verify the active resolution reads 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz; the link should also report HBR3 bandwidth of 32.4 Gbps.

What comes in the box and is anything else required for a Mini DP laptop to a full-size DP monitor?

The package contains the 2 m bi-directional Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 cable with gold-plated connectors and a cotton-braided jacket; no separate adapter or power supply is needed.

Which resolution and refresh-rate combination should I pick for a 4K 144 Hz gaming monitor?

Select 3840 x 2160 at 144 Hz in your GPU control panel; the cable’s 32.4 Gbps HBR3 bandwidth fully supports that mode.
