Adds four USB 3.0 Type-A ports through a PCIe x1 slot with 5Gbps speed using a U3044 chip, compatible with Intel, AMD and ARM motherboards running Windows or Linux
The SMUGDESK U3044 adds four USB 3.0 Type-A ports to a desktop through a standard PCIe x1 slot. It uses a U3044 controller chip to provide up to 5Gbps bandwidth per port. The card is aimed at office PCs, industrial hosts and DIY builds that need more front or rear USB connections.
A single-lane PCIe x1 interface keeps the card short so it does not block neighbouring expansion slots. Built-in overcurrent and short-circuit circuits protect attached flash drives, external hard drives, cameras and the host motherboard from overload or static damage. The bracket fits standard full-height chassis cut-outs.
This adapter replaces the need for internal USB header splitters or front-panel hubs that share bandwidth. The jump is worth it when a board lacks enough native USB 3.0 ports for multiple high-speed peripherals. Mac OS is not supported, so buyers needing macOS compatibility should choose a different solution.
