Converts dual Oculink SFF-8611/SFF-8612 4X inputs to a PCIe x16 slot with ATX 24pin power for external GPU expansion
This SMUGDESK Oculink adapter converts dual SFF-8611 and SFF-8612 4X inputs into a standard PCIe x16 slot for external graphics cards. It targets users of ITX, NUC, STX mini motherboards and laptops seeking desktop GPU performance. The board delivers PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth up to 64Gbps for gaming, rendering and AI workloads.
Installation involves connecting the Oculink cable from the host to the adapter and seating the graphics card into the x16 slot. A standard ATX 24pin power connection on the board is mandatory to supply stable power for high-power GPUs. Builders must ensure their host system provides an Oculink 4X output and a suitable power supply for the adapter.
The adapter handles PCIe 4.0 x4 signalling at 64Gbps, providing sufficient throughput for most external GPU tasks with minimal latency compared to Thunderbolt alternatives. It runs out of headroom when the host cannot supply a native Oculink 4X lane or when the graphics card power draw exceeds what the connected ATX supply can deliver. Systems lacking an Oculink port cannot use this adapter.

Check the link width and speed in GPU-Z or your motherboard BIOS; a healthy connection shows x4 Gen 4.0 with 64Gbps bandwidth and no lane downgrade warnings.
The adapter board with dual SFF-8611 and SFF-8612 ports and an ATX 24pin power connector is included; you need an Oculink cable, a desktop PSU for the 24pin port, and your graphics card.
Both ports accept PCIe 4.0 x4 input; choose the one that matches your host cable — SFF-8611 for straight connectors, SFF-8612 for right-angle — performance is identical.
