Mid-sized organisation firewall

The SonicWall TZ680 is a desktop-form-factor security appliance built for mid-sized organisations and distributed enterprises running SD-Branch architectures. It runs SonicOS 8 and provides deep packet inspection services including gateway anti-virus, anti-spyware, intrusion prevention and TLS decryption. Centralised management is handled through Network Security Manager with zero-touch deployment support.

5 Gbps firewall throughput

Eight 1 GbE copper ports and two multi-rate 10G/5G/2.5G/1G SFP ports give flexible WAN and LAN connectivity. Firewall inspection throughput reaches 5 Gbps while threat prevention, anti-malware and VPN throughputs each sit at 2.5 Gbps. The platform supports up to 1.6 million concurrent connections and 26,000 new connections per second, with optional storage expansion up to 512 Gb.

Replaces older desktop appliances lacking

Organisations moving from single-gigabit desktop firewalls gain 10G-capable SFP interfaces and higher inspection throughput without changing form factor. The jump is worthwhile when branch sites need secure SD-WAN, Wi-Fi 6 access-point management and DNS security in a single device. It is not suited for environments that require redundant power supplies or higher threat-prevention throughput than 2.5 Gbps.
