Sony VPL-FHZ55 business projector

The Sony VPL-FHZ55 is a 3LCD business projector delivering 4000 ANSI lumens at a native 1920 x 1200 resolution. It is built for meeting rooms, classrooms and signage installations that need bright, colour-accurate images in ambient light. Integrated speakers and DICOM support add convenience for presentations and medical imaging review.

Check room throw and signal sources

Verify that your mounting position matches the medium throw ratio so the image fills the screen at the intended distance. Confirm that your video sources can output 1920 x 1200 over HDMI, DVI, VGA, BNC, S-Video or composite RCA. Ensure network infrastructure includes an RJ45 drop if you plan to use LAN control or Crestron RoomView management.

Replaces dimmer or lower-resolution projectors

This unit upgrades installations still running sub-3500 lumen models or XGA and 720p devices that struggle with fine text and colour fidelity. The jump is worth it when you need 16:10 widescreen clarity, 8000:1 contrast for detailed graphics, and built-in edge blending for multi-projector walls. Buyers who require ultra-short throw distances or portable battery operation should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the Sony VPL-FHZ55 and do I need to buy a lens separately?

The projector ships with its lens installed and includes a remote control, power cable and documentation. No separate lens purchase is required.

Should I choose the 4000 ANSI lumen model or a lower brightness version for a lit meeting room?

At 4000 ANSI lumens this model is built for well-lit spaces; a lower-brightness unit would struggle to keep the image clear under the same lighting.

What does the 8000:1 contrast ratio mean when the projector is running in a typical office?

It indicates the brightest white is eight thousand times brighter than the darkest black, so text and graphics stay sharp even with ambient light present.
