The Sophos XGS 116w is a desktop security appliance that combines wired and wireless connectivity. It targets small offices or branch sites needing integrated threat protection and SD-WAN in a single box. The unit ships new with an external auto-ranging power supply and includes cables for console access.

8 copper GE ports plus SFP uplink

Eight RJ-45 ports run at 10/100/1000Base-T and one SFP slot provides 1000Base-X fiber uplink. Wireless LAN uses IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with 2x2 Wi-Fi 5. There are no expansion slots, so the port count is fixed at purchase.

4 GB DDR4 and 64 GB M.2 storage

The AMD x86 CPU and Marvell NPU share 4 GB of DDR4 memory while logs and firmware reside on a 64 GB M.2 drive. RAID is not supported, so storage redundancy must be handled externally. The platform handles TLS 1.3 inspection, IPS and sandboxing for typical branch traffic but will not suit environments needing larger session tables or high-volume logging.
