Converts a straight-through serial cable into a null modem link with a DB9 male-to-female connection
This DB9 male-to-female adapter converts a standard straight-through serial cable into a null modem link for direct device-to-device communication. It suits technicians and engineers working with legacy RS-232 equipment such as industrial controllers, point-of-sale hardware or older networking gear.
The adapter operates without a power supply, drawing no current and adding no audible noise to the installation. Its passive wiring simply crosses the transmit and receive lines so connected equipment can exchange data immediately.
The accessory is validated for use with part numbers PCI2S232485I, PCI8S950LP and SV1115IPEXGB, letting installers adapt existing straight-through cabling for those controller boards. No additional drivers or configuration software are required.

Plug the male DB9 end of the adapter into the female port on your device, then connect your straight-through serial cable to the adapter's female DB9 end. The common mistake is using a null-modem cable instead of a straight-through cable, which reverses the signals again and breaks the link.
The adapter has no moving parts and requires no scheduled maintenance. Replace it only if the DB9 pins bend, the housing cracks, or intermittent connections appear after repeated mating cycles.
The practical limit is the RS-232 voltage swing and cable capacitance; the adapter itself adds no active circuitry, so sustained throughput is bounded by the serial port's maximum baud rate and the cable length rather than the adapter.
