20 ft NEMA 5-15 Extension Cord

This 20-foot power extension cord connects a NEMA 5-15 plug to a NEMA 5-15 receptacle. It uses 16 AWG SJT cable with a PVC jacket rated for 125V at 13A. The black cord adds reach between a wall outlet or power strip and a computer or peripheral.

Suits setups needing extra length for large adapters

The cord lets you plug bulky power bricks into crowded strips without blocking adjacent sockets. It is not for installations that require a heavier wire gauge or a higher amperage rating than 13A. Buyers needing a different connector type or a shorter run should look elsewhere.

Rated 13A at 125V on 16 AWG wire

The 16 AWG conductors and NEMA 5-15 ends limit the safe load to 13 amps at 125 volts. Exceeding this rating creates a fire hazard. Verify that your equipment draws no more than 13A before using this extension.

Questions about this item

How much space does the 20 ft NEMA 5-15P plug need behind a desk or cabinet?

The moulded straight-blade plug projects a short distance from the wall; leave enough clearance so the cable jacket is not sharply bent at the exit point.

What is the correct way to seat the NEMA 5-15R receptacle onto a device plug?

Align the blades with the slots and push straight in until the faces meet flush; do not twist or rock the connector, which can spread the contacts.

When should the 16 AWG SJT cord be replaced?

Replace the cord if the PVC jacket shows cracks, the moulded ends feel loose, or the plug blades become discoloured from overheating at 13 A loads.
