6 ft NEMA 5-15 Extension Cord

This six-foot extension cord carries a NEMA 5-15R receptacle on one end and a matching NEMA 5-15P plug on the other. It is built for North American mains power and suits desktop PCs, monitors, printers or any device that uses a standard three-prong IEC lead. The extra length helps reach outlets behind furniture or across a workbench.

16 AWG SJT cable with PVC jacket

The cord uses 16 AWG conductors inside an SJT-rated PVC jacket rated for 125 volts at 13 amps. The flexible sheath resists kinking and routes cleanly around desk legs or cable trays. Both moulded connectors are keyed for correct polarity and grip firmly, so large wall-wart adapters sit securely without blocking adjacent sockets on a power strip.

Check outlet type and current draw before ordering

Verify that your wall outlet and the equipment plug are both NEMA 5-15 configuration. Confirm the connected load does not exceed the 13 amp rating of this cable. This cord is not intended for outdoor use, high-temperature environments or appliances that require a grounded locking connector or a heavier wire gauge.

Questions about this item

What current does the NEMA 5-15 plug and receptacle support?

The cord is rated for 13 A at 125 V, so it safely carries up to 13 amps through the NEMA 5-15P plug and 5-15R receptacle.

How much space does the 6 ft cable and its moulded ends need behind a desk or rack?

The cable is 6 ft long with standard NEMA 5-15 moulded connectors on each end; allow a few centimetres extra for the plug and receptacle bodies when routing.

How do I connect this extension without creating a loose or reversed connection?

Insert the NEMA 5-15P plug fully into the wall or strip outlet, then push the device plug firmly into the 5-15R receptacle until both seat with a click — do not force the ground pin.
