Server CPU heatsink for LGA2011

The Supermicro SNK-P0048PS is a passive 2U heatsink designed for Socket R LGA-2011 platforms. It supports Intel Xeon E5-2600 and E5-4600 processor series in rackmount servers. The unit mounts with spring screws and ships in retail packaging.

Spring-screw mount simplifies installation

The spring-screw mechanism allows tool-free attachment to the motherboard retention frame. This reduces assembly time during server builds or field replacements. No active fan is included, so system airflow must satisfy thermal requirements.

2U height limits chassis choice

At 2.52 inches tall, the heatsink fits only 2U or larger rackmount enclosures. Buyers with 1U nodes or restricted vertical clearance cannot use this part. Width and depth measure 3.15 by 4.09 inches.

Questions about this item

Does the 2U heatsink need periodic re-tightening of its spring-screw mounts?

The spring-screw mount applies constant pressure; no scheduled re-tightening is required.

What thermal limit appears first when a Xeon E5-2600 runs continuously in a 2U chassis?

The 2.52 in height caps surface area, so the CPU hits its TDP ceiling before the heatsink saturates.

How much airflow must the chassis supply to keep a Xeon E5-4600 cool with this passive 4.09 in deep sink?

Server fans must push enough CFM to match the processor TDP; the heatsink itself adds no noise or power draw.
