Portable 9-band radio with USB and SD playback

The Supersonic SC-1082 receives AM, FM and shortwave broadcasts across nine bands and plays MP3 files from USB drives or SD cards. A built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery powers both the radio and an integrated torch light. The 360-degree rotating antenna helps pull in distant stations. Weighing 1.74 pounds, it fits in a bag for outdoor use.

USB and SD slots add offline music

The USB port accepts flash drives for MP3 playback and can charge phones or other small gadgets while the radio runs. An SD card slot provides a second way to carry a music library without a separate player. The torch light delivers up to 10 hours of illumination on a full charge. Both features draw from the same internal battery.

Battery life limits continuous listening to two

The rechargeable cell provides roughly two hours of radio operation or up to 10 hours of flashlight use before it needs recharging via the included AC power cord. Buyers who want all-day listening without access to mains power should note this constraint. The owner's manual and power cord are the only accessories in the box.

Questions about this item

Will the rechargeable lithium-ion battery eventually need replacing and is it user-replaceable?

The unit runs on one lithium-ion battery that can be recharged via the included AC/DC adapter or USB; when capacity fades the battery can be swapped by the owner.

What stops the radio from playing longer than the rated runtime on a full charge?

Battery life is limited to roughly 2 hours of radio use or 8 to 10 hours of flashlight use before a recharge is required.

Does the speaker or chassis get noticeably warm or noisy during all-day operation?

The device has no fan and draws little power, so it stays cool and silent even during extended listening sessions.
