What this product is

The Toshiba MK4032GAX is a new 40 GB hard drive adapter in a 2.5 inch form factor. It uses an IDE Ultra ATA/100 interface spinning at 5400 rpm with an 8 MB buffer. The unit weighs approximately 3.42 oz and measures 3.9 inches deep.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This drive suits technicians restoring legacy laptops or industrial systems that require a 2.5 inch IDE storage device. Buyers who need a larger capacity than 40 GB or a different interface standard should select another product.

The specification that decides fit

The decisive specification is the IDE Ultra ATA/100 interface combined with the 2.5 inch form factor; the host system must provide a matching 44-pin IDE connector and physical bay for the drive to function.
