The Tripp Lite B072-008-1-IP is an 8-port Cat5 KVM switch that occupies 1U of rack space. It provides local control and IP remote access for up to eight servers or computers. The unit supports VGA video up to 1920 x 1080 resolution and USB or PS/2 peripheral connections. It is suited for administrators managing multiple systems in a server room environment.

Replaces Direct Cabling with Cat5 Infrastructure

This switch replaces direct keyboard, video and mouse cabling to each server with low-cost Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6a cables. Servers can be located up to 100 ft from the switch using a Server Interface Unit such as the B078-101-USB-1 or B078-101-PS2. The jump is worth it when cable clutter must be reduced and centralised remote management over a network or the Internet is required.

Limited to VGA and Single-User Remote Sessions

The video interface is limited to VGA with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080, so digital video standards are not supported. The 1+1 user design allows one local and one remote operator, but only one can control the target server at a time. Virtual media data transfer rates reach 12Mbps with the B078-101-USB2 module. Power input accepts a wide range of AC voltages at 50/60Hz.
