Compact headset splitter for laptop users

The Tripp Lite P318-06N-FMM is a 6-inch adapter that connects a single 4-position 3.5mm headset plug into separate 3-position microphone and headphone jacks. It lets you use a combined headset with computers or laptops that provide distinct audio ports for input and output. Molded cables with built-in strain relief and 28AWG wire keep the connection reliable during daily carry.

Replaces makeshift dual-cable workarounds

Instead of hunting for separate microphone and headphone cables or relying on a bulky USB sound device, this splitter bridges the two ports directly. The jump is worth it when you need a lightweight, passive solution for VOIP calls on Skype, chat apps or similar software without adding power or driver dependencies.

Fits in a laptop bag and frees up USB ports

The short 6-inch length and compact black housing tuck easily into a sleeve or pocket, leaving no dangling bulk. Because it draws no power and requires no software, it preserves USB ports for other peripherals and works instantly on any device with standard 3.5mm mic and headphone sockets.

Questions about this item

Will the 6" cable reach from my laptop's side port to a headset on the desk?

The 6" length is designed for close-range connections such as a laptop side port to a headset worn by the user; it is not intended for long desk runs.

Does the 4-position female jack accept a TRRS headset plug with a microphone contact?

Yes, the 4-position 3.5mm female connector is wired for TRRS headsets so the microphone and stereo audio pass through to the two 3-position male plugs.

Can the 28AWG wires handle daily bending in a laptop bag without breaking?

The molded strain relief at each connector protects the 28AWG conductors from fatigue during frequent packing and unpacking.
