Product Purpose

The VideoSecu VD4090PCK is a wired analog dome camera built for indoor or outdoor surveillance. It captures 420 TV lines of resolution through a 1/4 inch CCD sensor and switches automatically between colour daytime video and black-and-white night footage using 36 infrared LEDs. The package includes a 12V DC power supply and a video power cable.

Compatibility Check

Verify that your recorder accepts a BNC video input and supports NTSC standard signals. The camera requires a 12V DC 500mA power source; the supplied adapter meets this need. Ensure you have a coaxial or combined video-power cable run to the mounting location, as the camera does not transmit data over Ethernet or wireless protocols.

Build Integration

The weatherproof aluminium housing and tri-axis bracket allow wall or ceiling mounting with flexible aiming. The external 4-9mm varifocal lens lets you adjust the viewing angle and focus on site without disassembly. The camera connects directly to a DVR and monitor to complete a CCTV system; it does not operate as a standalone network device.

Questions about this item

Does the box include everything needed to power and connect the VD4090PCK or must I buy a DVR and monitor separately?

The package contains the dome camera, a 12V DC 500mA power supply and a combined video power cable. A DVR, monitor and any extra cabling are not included.

Should I choose the fixed or varifocal lens version for adjustable viewing angles?

This model has a manual 4-9mm varifocal lens; the viewing angle and focus are adjusted with external screw gears on the dome.

What does the 420TVL resolution mean for recorded footage on a DVR?

It delivers 420 horizontal TV lines in NTSC, giving standard-definition analogue detail that a compatible DVR records at full frame rate.
