Purpose and fit

The VideoSecu VD6HBLKC is a wired dome camera built for indoor or outdoor surveillance on an analog CCTV system. It connects by BNC video and requires a separate DVR, monitor and cabling to operate. Buyers who need IP networking, HD-SDI resolution or wireless transmission cannot use this camera.

Thermals noise and power

The unit runs on a supplied DC 12 V power adapter and draws minimal current in normal operation. Twenty-eight infrared LEDs activate automatically in low light, adding negligible heat and no audible noise. The sealed vandal-resistant housing handles weather exposure without active cooling.

Resolution and lens

Maximum horizontal resolution is 600 TV lines through a 1/3" Sony Effio CCD with a fixed 3.6 mm wide-angle lens. This specification determines the level of detail the camera can deliver to an analog recorder; systems that require higher line counts or motorised optics will need a different model.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the dome camera and connect the BNC cable, and what step is often missed?

Secure the dome base to the wall or ceiling, then attach the BNC video lead and the DC 12V power plug; the step often missed is tightening the weatherproof gasket on the cable gland so moisture cannot enter.

Which parts will need replacement first during long-term outdoor use?

The 28 IR LEDs and the automatic CDS sensor that switches between colour and black-and-white modes are the components most likely to degrade after continuous night operation.

At what point does the analog video signal hit its resolution ceiling during extended recording?

The 600 TV line horizontal resolution is the hard limit; the Sony Effio CCD cannot deliver more detail regardless of DVR settings or cable length.
