The VPFET 52-542 extracts audio from an HDMI signal and sends it to a sound system via optical SPDIF or 3.5mm auxiliary output. It supports video pass-through up to 4K at 60Hz with HDR10 and 18Gbps bandwidth. This adapter suits setups where the source device lacks dedicated audio outputs, such as game consoles, media players or laptops.

Sustained operation with USB power

The unit draws power from a 5V USB port on a nearby device or a phone charger, so it runs continuously without a bulky mains brick. It handles 1080p at 144Hz or 120Hz and 4K at 50 or 60Hz YUV444 without signal degradation over long sessions. Audio sampling reaches 192kHz for both PCM and DTS formats through the optical connection.

Check your source and cabling first

The extractor does not support ARC or eARC and cannot accept a TV as the input source. You must set the source audio output to PCM when using the 3.5mm jack, and select 2.0CH mode for stereo or 5.1CH mode for optical surround. A certified HDMI 2.0 cable is recommended to maintain HDR10 compatibility at full bandwidth.
