3.5" IDE to 2.5"/3.5" SATA Adapter

This adapter connects 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA drives to a 40-pin IDE interface on legacy motherboards or controllers. A Molex to floppy power cable is included to supply the necessary voltage for the attached drive. It enables older systems to use modern SATA storage devices.

For IDE systems adding SATA storage

The unit suits builders upgrading vintage PCs or industrial equipment that only provide a 40-pin IDE connection and Molex power. It is not suitable for boards lacking a 40-pin IDE header or for drives requiring a different power connector than the supplied floppy-style lead.

Questions about this item

Does the 40-pin IDE male connector plug directly into a 3.5-inch drive bay?

The adapter presents a 40-pin IDE male header that mates with the drive's own 40-pin socket; it does not mount into a drive bay on its own.

Which power lead must be connected before the SATA drive will spin up?

Attach the included Molex 4-pin to floppy-drive power cable to the adapter's power input, then connect the floppy plug to the drive.
