Connects eight SATA drives via an M.2 B+M Key slot with PCIe 3.0 x2 bandwidth up to 1700 MB/s
This PCIe 3.0 x2 adapter connects up to eight SATA drives through a single M.2 B+M Key slot. It uses a Jmicron JMB585 chipset to deliver up to 1700 MB/s total bandwidth. The card includes two Mini SAS to 4 SATA cables for installation. It targets builders adding high-density storage to systems with an available M.2 slot.
The adapter supports Port Multiplier in non-RAID configurations and works with SATA hard drives or SSDs. It complies with PCIe 3.1a and SATA AHCI 1.0 specifications for broad OS compatibility including Windows and Linux. Buyers needing hardware RAID functions or more than eight drive ports will not find those features here.
The JMB585 chipset achieves this maximum sequencing rate across all eight ports combined. Individual drive speeds reach up to 850 MB/s for read or write operations. Systems without a compatible M.2 B+M Key slot supporting PCIe 3.0 x2 cannot use this adapter.

Insert the card into a 2-lane M.2 PCIe 3.0 B+M Key slot, secure it with the mounting screw, attach the two included Mini SAS cables to the card, then connect each cable to four SATA drives; the step often missed is ensuring the host BIOS enables the M.2 slot for PCIe rather than SATA mode.
The adapter itself has no moving parts and requires no scheduled maintenance; only the attached SATA drives or Mini SAS cables may need replacement if they fail or if you upgrade to higher-capacity drives.
The JMB585 chipset caps aggregate throughput at 1700 MB/s over the PCIe 3.0 x2 link, so sustained multi-drive workloads will hit that ceiling before any single SATA 6Gbps port reaches its own 850 MB/s maximum.
