Connects a Mini SAS SFF-8087 controller to four SATA drives using a 1.6 ft forward breakout cable with locking latches
This 0.5 metre breakout cable carries a single SFF-8087 male plug on the host side and splits to four SATA 7-pin female connectors for drives. It links a SAS controller or motherboard port directly to up to four SATA hard drives or SSDs, making it a practical choice for storage expansion in servers or workstations.
Each of the four SATA lanes is rated for 6 Gb/s, so the aggregate bandwidth available to the array scales with the number of active drives. The 30 AWG conductors and braided sheath keep signal integrity stable during long copy jobs or RAID rebuilds, while the locking latches on both ends prevent accidental disconnects under vibration.
The cable replaces a direct backplane link when the controller presents an SFF-8087 port instead of native SATA headers, letting builders attach standard SATA drives without a backplane swap. It is not suited for configurations that require the SFF-8087 connector on the drive side or for SAS drives that need a native SAS target interface.

The cable is a passive copper assembly with no active electronics, so it adds no measurable heat or power draw when running all day.
You need a SAS HBA, RAID controller or motherboard with an internal SFF-8087 36-pin male port; the cable connects that host to four SATA drives.
Yes, the SATA 7-pin targets are backward-compatible, so 3 Gbit/s drives will operate at their native speed on this breakout cable.
