PCIe x2 SATA adapter for two drives

This weastlinks adapter adds two SATA 6 Gbps ports to a system through a PCI Express x2 connection. It fits x2, x4, x8 or x16 slots and uses the ASMedia 1062 chipset. The card targets builders who need extra SATA connections for SSDs or HDDs in a desktop or server chassis.

PCI Express x2 host interface

The card communicates over a PCIe 2.0 x2 link and complies with the Serial ATA 3.0 specification. It negotiates link speeds of 6.0 Gbps, 3.0 Gbps or 1.5 Gbps depending on the attached drive. Each port can deliver up to 500 MB/s throughput. The controller supports AHCI, NCQ and port multiplier switching.

Passive heatsink for continuous operation

A large heatsink covers the controller to dissipate heat during extended workloads such as IPFS mining or bulk storage arrays. The board supports Partial and Slumber power management states to reduce draw when drives are idle. Hot-plug and hot-swap capability lets you replace drives without shutting down the host.

Questions about this item

How fast will my drives actually run on the 6.0 Gbps SATA ports?

Each port delivers up to 500 MB/s, matching SATA 3.0 speeds for compatible SSDs or HDDs.

What does the PCIe 2.0 x2 link mean for throughput?

The x2 lane provides enough bandwidth for two SATA 3.0 drives at full 6.0 Gbps without bottleneck.

Will the heatsink and bracket fit both full-height and low-profile cases?

The card supports large and small chassis, so the included heatsink works in standard or slim builds.
