Check your port and file system

Verify that your computer has a USB 3.2 Gen 1 or USB 2.0 port for connection. The drive arrives formatted NTFS; reformatting will be required for macOS or other operating systems. Ensure you have a free USB port and the ability to install software if you plan to use the included management tools.

Included cable, software and encryption

A SuperSpeed USB cable is supplied so no separate cable purchase is needed. WD Discovery software provides WD Backup for automatic scheduling, password protection with 256-bit AES hardware encryption, and drive management utilities. The quick install guide helps you set up backup and security features immediately.
