Ready-to-use portable storage

The Western Digital My Passport 1TB drive arrives formatted NTFS for Windows 10 and 8.1 so it works immediately after plugging the supplied SuperSpeed USB cable into a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port. It also supports USB 2.0 connections for older systems. Mac users can reformat the drive to suit their operating system. The slim 0.44 inch profile and 0.27 lb weight let it slip into a bag without adding bulk.

Fits any USB-equipped build

A single USB port provides both data transfer and power, freeing a wall outlet and leaving internal drive bays untouched. The compact 4.22 by 2.95 inch footprint sits on any desk surface without crowding other peripherals. No extra power adapter or driver installation is required, keeping the external storage addition simple for laptops, desktops or workstations.

Software adds automation and security

WD Discovery installs WD Backup for scheduled file protection and a password utility that activates 256-bit AES hardware encryption on the drive. The same suite links to Facebook, Dropbox and Google Drive for direct cloud imports. A quick install guide walks through the first setup so the drive is protecting and organising data within minutes.
