Surveillance Storage for Multi-Camera Systems

This 6TB drive is engineered for 24/7 operation in high-definition security installations that use up to eight drives and support up to 32 cameras. It targets write-intensive, low bit-rate workloads typical of continuous video recording. The firmware prioritises write operations to maintain smooth streaming across multiple channels.

SATA 6.0Gb/s Interface Limits

The SATA 6.0Gb/s connection caps sequential throughput at the bus maximum, so sustained write speeds cannot exceed that ceiling regardless of the drive’s internal capability. The 5400 RPM spindle and 64MB cache are tuned for steady streaming rather than burst performance. Workloads heavier than the rated 180TB per year may reduce longevity.

3.5-Inch Build and Mounting

The bare drive measures 147.00mm long, 101.60mm wide and 26.10mm high, weighing approximately 1.66 lb, fitting standard 3.5-inch bays in desktop PCs or storage arrays. Standard SATA data and power connectors face the rear for straightforward cabling in multi-bay chassis. The RoHS-compliant assembly contains no wireless components.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 6TB model or a different capacity for my surveillance array?

The 6TB capacity works with systems that use up to eight drives and 32 cameras, so choose it when you need that total raw space in a single bay.

What does the 180TB yearly workload rating mean for daily recording?

It means the drive is built to handle the constant write streams of 24/7 surveillance without exceeding its design limits.

Will the SATA 6.0Gb/s interface limit throughput in a multi-drive recorder?

The SATA 6.0Gb/s link provides enough bandwidth for the 5400 RPM mechanism, so the interface does not become the bottleneck.
