Capacity and compatibility

The Western Digital My Book desktop external hard drive delivers 24TB of storage for archiving photos, videos, music and important documents. It works with Windows and Mac computers out of the box so you can start backing up files immediately.

Installation and common issues

The drive connects via a SuperSpeed USB-A cable using USB 3.2 Gen 1 or USB 2.0 ports and requires the included AC adapter for power. Users must install the supplied device management software to enable password protection, hardware encryption and ransomware defence features.

Sustained workload behaviour

The hardware encryption and password protection operate continuously during long backup or archiving sessions without user intervention. The desktop form factor with an external power supply supports extended operation for large data transfers and ongoing backup schedules.
