High-Capacity Desktop Storage

The Western Digital My Book provides 14TB of external storage in a desktop form factor. It connects via a USB 3.0 Micro-B interface and includes an AC adapter for power. The drive arrives formatted exFAT for immediate use with Windows and Mac systems. WD Discovery software supplies backup, security and drive management utilities.

Suits Local Backup Needs

This drive suits users who want a single, high-capacity device for scheduled file backups and password-protected archives. It works with WD Backup on Windows and Time Machine on macOS without extra setup. Buyers who need portable bus-powered storage or network-attached access should consider other form factors. The desktop design requires a mains outlet and a fixed location.

14TB Capacity Decides Fit

The 14TB capacity is the specification that determines whether this drive matches the data volume you must protect. It holds large photo libraries, video collections and full system images in one enclosure. If your backup set is significantly smaller or larger, a different capacity will be more economical or practical.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 14 TB drive is recognised and backing up after I connect the USB 3.0 Micro-B cable and launch WD Backup?

Open WD Backup, verify the drive appears with 14 TB capacity, run a test backup of a folder, then check the backup history shows the task completed without errors.

What items are included in the box and is anything else required to start using the drive?

The box contains the 14 TB desktop drive, a USB 3.0 Micro-B cable, an AC power adapter, a quick install guide and WD Discovery software with Backup, Security and Drive Utilities; no extra purchases are needed.

This model is listed as a single 14 TB version — how do I know it matches my storage needs?

The 14 TB capacity suits large photo, video and document libraries and full system images; if you need less space, a lower-capacity My Book model would be the alternative.
