Turns a 50 mm mSATA SSD up to 512 GB into a USB 3.0 portable drive with 200 MB/s reads and 400 MB/s via UASP
This Winait mSATA to USB 3.0 adapter turns a 50mm mSATA SSD into a portable external drive. It connects directly to a USB port on a laptop or desktop without needing a separate cable. The ASM1153E chip provides broad platform compatibility and stable operation for SSDs up to 512GB capacity.
Builders with spare mSATA SSDs from past upgrades can reuse them for extra external storage. It is not for users who need to connect SATA Mini PCIe, PATA Mini PCIe, or RAID Mini PCIe drives. Buyers whose SSDs draw more than 1.5A of current should look at a powered enclosure instead.
The adapter plugs straight into an available USB 3.0 port and draws power from the bus, freeing up internal drive bays and SATA cables. UASP support on Windows 8 or Mac OS 8&9 can raise transfer rates toward 400Mb/s, while standard operation reaches 200Mb/s. New drives must be formatted before the system will recognise them.

It fits 50mm mSATA SSDs up to 512GB and only drives drawing less than 1.5A; other form factors such as mini PCIe are not supported.
The ASM1153E chip provides broad compatibility with USB 3.0 ports; UASP acceleration requires host support and is available on Windows 8 and Mac OS 8 and 9.
Format the SSD first, then run a disk benchmark; expect 200Mb/s plus on standard USB 3.0 and up to 400Mb/s plus when UASP is active on a supported OS.
