Artist Brush for Oil Paints and Varnishes

The Wooster F1626-1 is a one-inch artist brush built for oil-based paints and varnishes on drywall, metal or wood. Its soft camel-hair bristles suit detailed artwork and smooth finishes rather than heavy coverage. The green wood handle and nickel-plated copper ferrule complete a traditional artist-style tool.

Soft Bristles Give Quiet, Low-Effort Application

Natural camel hair holds a generous load of oil-based coating and releases it evenly without splatter. The 34 mm bristle length and five-millimetre thickness keep each stroke controlled and virtually silent. No power source or mechanical parts are involved, so there is no noise, vibration or electrical draw to manage.

Wood Handle and Nickel Ferrule Resist Solvent Wear

The green wood handle is shaped for a comfortable artist grip during extended detail work. Nickel-plated copper resists corrosion from oil-based solvents, keeping the ferrule tight and the bristles secure. The one-inch width matches trim, touch-up and fine-art tasks, while the soft stiffness limits its use on rough or heavily textured surfaces.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the 1" camel-hair brush head to the green wood handle?

The head is already fixed with a nickel-plated copper ferrule; no assembly is required — simply inspect the ferrule for gaps before first use.

When will the camel-hair bristles need replacement?

Replace the brush when the 34 mm filaments lose their spring, split at the tips, or no longer hold a clean edge after thorough cleaning.

What is the first limitation during a long oil-painting session?

The soft 5 mm-thick bristles load heavily with oil colour and must be rinsed frequently to avoid drag and loss of control.
