Connect 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA drives via USB 3.0 with UASP support for up to 70 percent faster reads and 40 percent faster writes
This adapter connects a 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD to a USB 3.0 port on a laptop or desktop. It lets you add storage, run backups, create disk images, recover data or move files without installing the drive internally. The package includes a power adapter so 3.5 inch drives receive the electricity they need. It suits anyone who needs quick, temporary access to bare SATA drives.
The adapter supports USB 3.0 at 5Gbps and the UASP protocol. On a host that also supports UASP, read speeds can be 70 percent faster and write speeds 40 percent faster than standard USB 3.0 during extended transfers. UASP is available on Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 or later, and Linux. Without UASP the link falls back to conventional USB 3.0 performance.
A short cable links the SATA connector to the USB plug, keeping the setup compact on a desk. The external power brick connects to the adapter for 3.5 inch drives, while 2.5 inch draws can run from the USB port alone. Black plastic housing resists everyday handling. The arrangement is intended for occasional drive swaps rather than permanent enclosure use.

The USB 3.0 interface is rated at 5 Gbps and UASP reduces protocol overhead, so the adapter itself stays cool during sustained transfers.
You need a 3.5 inch SATA HDD or SSD and the included power adapter; the USB 3.0 cable connects to any Type-A port.
Yes, it falls back to USB 2.0 speeds, but UASP acceleration requires USB 3.0 and Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 or Linux.
