Encoder for 4096x2160p video

The WyreStorm NHD-500-DNT-TX is a NetworkHD 500 series wired encoder built for professional AV distribution. It accepts HDMI and 3.5 mm analogue audio sources and streams them over IP at 4096x2160p resolution. Installers and system integrators use it to extend high-quality video and audio across standard Ethernet infrastructure.

Integration with PoE and SFP uplinks

The unit draws power from a 12 V DC supply or the single 1 GbE RJ-45 port with PoE, simplifying cabling in remote locations. A second 1 GbE SFP interface provides a fibre uplink for longer runs or network redundancy. Two-channel Dante/AES67 audio leaves via RJ-45 and a 5-pin connector, freeing the HDMI input for pure video transport.

Sustained throughput at 850 MBps JPEG 2000

Under continuous operation the encoder maintains an average draw of 8 W and peaks at 15.4 W while pushing JPEG 2000 streams at 850 MBps. This steady bandwidth profile suits always-on signage, lecture-capture or broadcast workflows where burst-only ratings would hide frame drops. The external form factor aids heat dissipation during extended duty cycles.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum power draw of the NHD-500-DNT-TX during sustained encoding?

The encoder draws a maximum of 15.4 W when operating at full load.

How much heat and fan noise should I expect when the unit runs continuously?

Average consumption is 8 W with no moving parts, so heat output and acoustic noise remain minimal.

Which network infrastructure is required for the 850 MB/s JPEG 2000 stream?

A 1 GbE switch with PoE support or a separate 12 V DC 1 A supply, plus an SFP module if fibre uplink is used.
