12x24 ft 14-mil poly tarp

This 12 by 24 foot polyethylene tarp provides a waterproof and UV-resistant shelter for vehicles, boats, equipment and outdoor structures. The silver and black reversible design reflects sunlight to keep covered areas cooler during summer months. It is built for general-purpose protection against rain, dust and wind across residential, agricultural and recreational settings.

14-mil thickness with aluminium grommets

The tarp uses 100 percent virgin PE material with triple-coated lamination for double-sided use and resistance to black stains in wet conditions. Aluminium grommets are spaced at 3 1/4 foot intervals along the perimeter, and reinforced PP-capped corners add extra tear resistance. Seamless edges prevent water leakage, while the finished dimensions measure 138 1/4 by 284 1/4 inches and the unit weighs 12.98 pounds.

Upgrade from lightweight disposable sheeting

This heavy-duty construction replaces thin single-season tarps that tear quickly and degrade under UV exposure. The reinforced grommet spacing and corner caps allow secure tie-downs for long-term outdoor use such as carport canopies, haystack covers or boat protection. Buyers needing a compact cover for small items or a lightweight indoor dust sheet will find this size and weight excessive.

Questions about this item

What is the 14-mil thickness rating and how does it affect tear resistance?

The 14-mil extra heavy-duty thickness combined with aluminum grommets spaced at 3 1/4 ft intervals provides enhanced tear-resistance for demanding outdoor use.

What are the exact finished dimensions and grommet spacing for mounting?

The overall finished size measures 138 1/4 by 284 1/4 inches with aluminum grommets placed every 3 1/4 ft (1 m) along the edges and reinforced PP plastic capped corners.

How do I install this tarp using the grommets and what is the common mistake?

Thread ropes or bungee cords through the aluminum grommets spaced every 3 1/4 ft and the reinforced corner grommets; the frequent error is skipping the corner grommets, which reduces tension distribution and tear resistance.
