What this keyboard is

The ZORNHER ZH980 is a new 95% layout mechanical gaming keyboard in a Pink Rose finish. It uses factory-lubed linear switches, Dipped PBT keycaps with side-printed legends and a gasket-mounted structure for a crisp, audible typing feel. The board is hot-swappable, RGB backlit and ships with a keycap puller and three spare switches.

Who it suits and who it does not

Gamers, coders and professionals who want a full number pad, F-row, arrows and navigation keys in a compact plastic frame will appreciate the complete 95% layout. Buyers who need an ultra-silent typing experience should look elsewhere because the linear creamy switches produce a soft but audible sound. Users who prefer tactile or clicky switch feedback will not find that feel here.

The deciding specification

The board offers three connection modes — 2.4 GHz wireless, wired USB-C and Bluetooth — plus a built-in 14 watt-hour lithium-ion battery. If your workflow demands all three link types and rechargeable operation, this keyboard meets that requirement; if you only need a single wired connection, the extra wireless hardware adds cost you may not want.

Questions about this item

How much desk space does the 14.96 in by 7.99 in footprint need?

The 95% layout measures 14.96 inches wide and 7.99 inches deep, so allow at least that much clear desk area plus room for mouse movement.

What is the correct way to pair the keyboard via 2.4 GHz, and what step do users often miss?

Plug the USB-C dongle into the host, turn the keyboard on, then hold the designated pairing key until the RGB indicator flashes; skipping the pairing-key press leaves the link inactive.

When should the 14 Wh lithium-ion battery be replaced, and how is it accessed?

Replace the internal 14 watt-hour pack when runtime drops noticeably; the battery is sealed inside the plastic enclosure and is not user-serviceable.
