A Wi-Fi 6 router delivering up to 1800 Mbps across dual bands with four external antennas, four Gigabit LAN ports, and AiProtection Classic security
Version RT-AX1800S
Wireless Speed Dual Band WiFi 6
The ASUS RT-AX1800S is a dual-band wireless router built on the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard. It delivers a total networking speed of approximately 1800Mbps, split between 574 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 1201 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. The design targets households with many simultaneous connections, using MU-MIMO and OFDMA to serve multiple devices at once. It is not suited for buyers who require multi-gigabit WAN or LAN ports beyond 1 Gbps.
The unit operates from an external power adapter accepting 110V to 240V AC input at 50 to 60 Hz and providing 12 V DC at up to 1.5 A. No active cooling fan is mentioned in the specifications, so silent running can be expected in normal use. Power draw scales with wireless load across the two bands. There are no figures supplied for idle or peak thermal output.
The chassis measures 9.06 inches by 5.28 inches by 2.2 inches and carries four external antennas. Connectivity includes one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports, all running at 10/100/1000 Mbps. Status LEDs cover power, 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, LAN and WAN activity. Physical controls comprise a WPS button, a reset button and a power switch. Management is handled via a dedicated application.

Other versions of this model
Connect the modem to the single Gigabit WAN port, power on the router, then follow the ASUS Router app wizard to configure the SSID, password and security settings.
The four external antennas are fixed and require no replacement; AiProtection Classic is included for the life of the product with no subscription fee.
The 12 V 1.5 A adapter supplies up to 18 W, which covers the router's maximum draw even when the 5 GHz band runs at its 1201 Mbps link rate.
