Dual-band WiFi 7 router delivering up to 6800 Mbps with 4096-QAM, MLO, a 2.6 GHz quad-core CPU, 10 Gigabit WAN/LAN, versatile WAN options and subscription-free security
Version RT-BE86U
Wireless Speed Dual Band WiFi 7
The ASUS RT-BE86U is a dual-band WiFi 7 wireless router that delivers combined wireless throughput up to 6800 Mbps across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. It supports 4096-QAM and Multi-Link Operation to increase spectral efficiency and reduce latency. A quad-core 2.6 GHz processor drives both wireless and wired workloads. The chassis includes three external antennas and one internal antenna for coverage.
This model suits households or small offices that want a single 10 Gigabit Ethernet port which can operate as either WAN or LAN, plus a 2.5 GbE WAN/LAN port for additional uplink flexibility. USB tethering supports 4G LTE and 5G mobile dongles for backup connectivity. Buyers who require multiple 10 GbE ports, a dedicated 6 GHz radio, or built-in modem functionality should consider other solutions.
The defining specification is the single 10 GbE port that serves as a configurable WAN or LAN interface alongside one 2.5 GbE WAN/LAN port and one additional LAN port. This port arrangement determines whether the router can satisfy a specific wired backbone or multi-gig ISP handoff without an external switch.

Other versions of this model
The router reaches a combined 6800 Mbps across its 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios, with the 5 GHz band alone capable of 5764 Mbps under WiFi 7.
The chassis uses passive cooling; the external antennas and vented housing dissipate heat from the 2.6 GHz processor during sustained 10G loads.
You need WiFi 7 (802.11be) compatible devices that support MLO and 4096-QAM to unlock the router's full dual-band feature set.
