Two-port stereo switcher

The AVer MD21 is a passive 3.5 mm audio AB selector that routes one of two line-level or headphone-level sources to a single output. It serves desktop users, home-theatre owners and content creators who want to toggle between devices such as a laptop and a gaming console without unplugging cables.

Passive operation under continuous use

Because the unit draws no power and contains no active circuitry, its signal path remains identical whether switched once a day or dozens of times per session. No heat builds up, no latency is added and no external supply is required, so the switcher behaves the same during long editing sessions or extended gaming marathons.

Compact metal chassis with ground switching

The black enclosure measures 32 by 60 by 32 millimetres and weighs 60 grams, fitting easily on a crowded desk or behind a monitor. Each 3.5 mm TRS jack carries a ground-switching contact that reduces pops when changing sources, while the passive design eliminates wear on source-device ports caused by frequent cable insertion.

Questions about this item

Does the AVer MD21 generate heat or noise when left switching between two sources all day?

The MD21 is a passive 3.5 mm stereo switch with no power supply, so it produces no heat and no fan noise during continuous use.

What cables or connectors must I already have to connect my laptop and phone to the MD21?

You need two male-to-male 3.5 mm TRS cables for the inputs and one more for the output to your speaker or headphones.

Will the MD21 work with an older portable CD player that only has a 3.5 mm headphone jack?

Yes, the switch accepts line-level or headphone-level signals from any device with a standard 3.5 mm stereo jack, including legacy CD players.
