This 0.5 metre cable connects a 12 Gbps host bus adapter or RAID controller with an SFF-8643 port to four SATA drives. It is built for internal server or workstation storage where a high-density controller links to direct-attached SATA disks.

Capacity and headroom

The hybrid design supports both 3 Gbps and 6 Gbps SATA speeds while the controller side runs at 12 Gbps. Four drives share the single SFF-8643 link, so aggregate throughput is limited by that uplink when all drives are active.

36-pin SFF-8643 connector

The 36 pin SFF-8643 plug mates only with compatible Mini SAS HD ports on the controller. Builders whose backplane or HBA uses a different mini SAS variant cannot use this cable.
