Dell Latitude 5590 i5-8350U

This Dell Latitude 5590 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor. It runs at 1.70 GHz with a turbo up to 3.60 GHz and includes 16 GB DDR4 RAM. The non-touch IPS display delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed for immediate professional use.

Dual SSD storage 128 GB M.2 plus 2 TB

The dual-drive configuration pairs a 128 GB M.2 SSD with a 2 TB secondary SSD for fast boot times and large local capacity. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth, HDMI, three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports (one with PowerShare), one USB Type-C with DisplayPort, VGA, RJ45, an SD slot and an optional Thunderbolt port over Type-C. An audio combo jack and Noble Wedge lock slot are also present.

Suits mobile professionals needing dual storage

This unit suits mobile professionals who want a durable 5000 series chassis with dual SSD storage and a full port selection including legacy VGA and RJ45. Buyers who need a touchscreen, discrete graphics, a larger 15.6 inch panel or Thunderbolt 3 certification should look at something else. The 4.19 lb weight and 0.9 inch front height may not meet ultra-light carry requirements.

Questions about this item

Will the 128 GB M.2 and 2 TB secondary SSD need replacement later?

Both drives are solid-state with no moving parts, so they rarely require scheduled replacement; plan to swap only if capacity runs out or a drive fails.

What limits sustained performance on the i5-8350U?

The 15 W quad-core CPU will hit its thermal ceiling first, causing clock speeds to drop from the 3.60 GHz boost toward the 1.70 GHz base during long heavy loads.

How loud and hot does it get when running all day?

Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics and the thin 0.9" chassis keep heat moderate; fan noise stays low for office work but rises under continuous multi-core tasks.
