Dell Latitude 5590 Ultrabook

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a 14.0 inch business ultrabook running Windows 10 Pro. It uses an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 16 GB DDR4 RAM and dual storage comprising a 256 GB M.2 drive plus a 1 TB secondary SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS non-touch display.

Upgrade from dual-core or HDD systems

Moving from a dual-core laptop or a mechanical hard-drive machine brings noticeable responsiveness in office multitasking and boot times. The quad-core CPU and dual-SSD layout handle typical business workloads without the bottlenecks of older configurations. The jump is worth it when daily tasks involve several browser tabs, Office apps and video calls running together.

Suits mobile professionals needing durability

This chassis suits professionals who want a durable, port-rich device for desk and travel use. Buyers who need a dedicated GPU for creative rendering or gaming should look elsewhere. Users requiring a touchscreen or a larger 15.6 inch panel will not find those features here.

Questions about this item

What drive sizes and interfaces fit the dual-storage bays on this Latitude 5590?

The primary bay takes a 256 GB M.2 module and the secondary bay accepts a 1 TB drive, giving a factory dual-drive layout of 256 GB + 1 TB SSD.

Which screw or latch must be released to open the bottom cover for drive access?

Remove the nine base screws, then pry the cover from the front edge; the hidden screw under the rubber foot is the step most people miss.

When will the 16 GB DDR4 memory need to be upgraded, and what is the ceiling?

The board supports up to 32 GB DDR4, so a future upgrade is only required if workloads exceed the installed 16 GB.
