A business mini-tower with a quad-core 3.40 GHz processor, 8 GB DDR3 memory, 512 GB SSD plus 2 TB hard drive, DVD-RW, Gigabit Ethernet and Windows 10 Pro, bundled with keyboard and mouse
SSD 512GB
HDD 2TB
The Dell OptiPlex 990 Mini Tower is a desktop computer built for student and home-office use. It runs on an Intel Core i7-2600 quad-core processor at 3.40 GHz with a turbo boost up to 3.80 GHz. The system includes 8 GB of DDR3 memory, a 512 GB solid-state drive plus a 2 TB hard drive, and a 16X DVD±RW drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed with a USB keyboard and mouse included.
This configuration replaces a single mechanical drive with a 512 GB SSD for the operating system and a 2 TB HDD for bulk storage. The jump is worthwhile when faster boot and application launch times matter alongside large local archives. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 handles basic display output only, so the system is not suited for modern gaming or GPU-accelerated creative workloads. Memory can be expanded to 16 GB of DDR3 if the workload demands more headroom.
The 265 W power supply supports the processor at its rated speeds during typical multi-tasking sessions such as document editing, web browsing and video playback. Sustained loads stay within the thermal limits of the mini-tower chassis without throttling. Gigabit Ethernet provides a stable wired network connection for cloud sync and large file transfers. The platform is not designed for continuous heavy compute or render tasks that would exceed the cooling and power envelope.

Other versions of this model
The 265W unit and mini-tower case limit you to low-profile cards that draw no more than the slot provides; a full-height card will not fit and would exceed the power budget.
A single thumbscrew at the rear releases the side panel; once open the two 240-pin DDR3 slots are visible — press the module straight down until both clips click.
SSDs typically last several years of daily writes; the mechanical 2 TB drive is the first part likely to fail — keep backups and expect to swap it after three to five years of heavy use.
