Dell OptiPlex 990 Mini Tower desktop

This Dell OptiPlex 990 Mini Tower desktop ships as a complete system with an Intel Core i7-2600 quad-core processor running at 3.40 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.80 GHz. It includes 8 GB of DDR3 memory, a 512 GB solid-state drive plus a 1 TB hard drive, and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit pre-installed. A USB keyboard and mouse are bundled for immediate use.

Straightforward setup with included peripherals

The unit arrives with Windows 10 Pro already installed, so initial configuration follows the standard out-of-box experience. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 drives the display outputs without a separate card. The 265 W power supply limits future graphics upgrades, and the Mini Tower chassis restricts full-length expansion cards.

Steady performance for everyday workloads

The i7-2600 maintains its 3.40 GHz base clock during sustained multi-threaded tasks such as office suites, web browsing and media playback. Turbo Boost reaches 3.80 GHz for shorter bursts when thermal headroom allows. The 512 GB SSD keeps boot and application load times consistent, while the 1 TB hard drive provides bulk capacity for archives.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Intel Core i7-2600 is running at its 3.40 GHz base speed after setup?

Open Task Manager in Windows 10 Pro, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU frequency settle at 3.40 GHz when idle.

Which accessories are included in the box and which must be purchased separately?

The system ships with a USB keyboard, USB mouse, 16X DVD±RW drive, and Windows 10 Pro installed; a monitor is not included.

Should I choose the 512 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD configuration or one of the other solid-state capacities listed?

The 512 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD option gives a fast boot drive plus 1000 GB of bulk storage; smaller SSD sizes reduce the fast tier, while the 1 TB SSD removes the hard drive entirely.
