Built for intensive mobile workloads

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation running Windows 11 Pro. It pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor with 32 GB DDR4 memory and an NVIDIA Quadro P2000 GPU with 4 GB GDDR5. Storage combines a 512 GB M.2 drive and a 4 TB SSD for large project files.

Sustained performance under load

Dual fans move air through the chassis to manage heat during long rendering or simulation sessions. The i9-8950HK runs at 2.90 GHz base and can reach 4.80 GHz with Turbo Boost when thermals allow. The Quadro P2000 delivers stable driver support for certified professional applications over extended periods.

Replaces bulkier workstations

This configuration suits users moving from heavier 15.6 inch machines that lack Thunderbolt 3 or dual high-capacity drives. It is not for buyers who need a larger display, a touchscreen panel, or more than 32 GB of system memory. The 72 percent colour gamut covers standard office and design tasks.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the dual-fan cooling get when the i9-8950HK and Quadro P2000 run at full load all day?

The chassis uses a dual-fan thermal design built to move more air through the 15.6" body, keeping the six-core processor and 4 GB GDDR5 graphics card at working temperatures during sustained workloads.

Which ports on the Precision 5530 do I need to connect my existing Thunderbolt dock and HDMI monitor?

One Thunderbolt 3 port with four lanes of PCIe and one HDMI 2.0 output are built in, so a single cable to a compatible dock or a direct HDMI cable will drive external displays.

Will my older SATA SSD work alongside the 512 GB M.2 and 4 TB SSD already installed?

The spec sheet lists only the two solid-state drives (512 GB M.2 plus 4 TB SSD) with no 2.5" bay or extra M.2 slot mentioned, so there is no internal connector left for a legacy SATA drive.
