Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6" mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor and NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics. It runs Windows 11 Pro and is aimed at professionals who need certified GPU performance for CAD, 3D modelling or video editing on the move. Buyers who require a larger screen or a newer CPU generation should look elsewhere.

Storage capacity and headroom

The system ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and dual solid-state storage: a 512 GB M.2 drive plus a 1 TB SSD. That combination provides ample space for large project files and multi-tasking across heavy applications. Users who need more than 32 GB of RAM or additional drive bays for extra capacity will find the configuration fixed.

Thermals noise and power

A dual-fan cooling system is designed to improve airflow and keep the chassis cool under sustained workloads. The 4 GB GDDR5 Quadro P2000 and six-core i9 draw significant power when fully loaded, so fan noise becomes audible during extended rendering sessions. The included AC adapter supplies the necessary wattage for peak performance.

Questions about this item

Will the Thunderbolt 3 port and HDMI 2.0 output drive my existing monitors without adapters?

The Thunderbolt 3 port carries video and data through a single USB-C connector, and the HDMI 2.0 port supports external 4K displays directly; both work with standard cables you already own.

How can I verify the i9-8950HK and Quadro P2000 are running at full performance after first boot?

Open Task Manager to confirm six cores and twelve threads at up to 4.80 GHz, then run the NVIDIA control panel to see 4 GB GDDR5 allocated to the Quadro P2000.

Does the box contain the Dell AC adapter and are any storage modules missing from the 512 GB M.2 plus 1 TB SSD configuration?

The Dell AC adapter is included, and the dual-drive layout — 512 GB M.2 plus 1 TB SSD — ships fully populated so no extra drives are required.
