Extracts audio from an HDMI source to optical SPDIF or analogue RCA stereo while passing 4K@30 Hz video through to a display
The ESTONE HDMI Audio Extractor separates the digital audio embedded in an HDMI source and routes it to optical TOSLINK or analogue RCA stereo outputs while passing the original video and audio through to an HDMI display. It is intended for users who need to connect a modern HDMI source such as a Blu-ray player, games console or streaming stick to a legacy amplifier, soundbar or AV receiver that lacks HDMI inputs.
The converter operates within the HDMI 1.4b specification and HDCP 1.4, so the maximum supported input resolution is 3840x2160 at 30 Hz or 4096x2160 at 30 Hz. Transmission distance reaches 49 ft when using AWG26 standard cable. Deep colour up to 36 bit per channel is supported, but ARC is not supported and Dolby Digital Plus cannot be decoded over the optical output.
A physical switch selects Pass, 2CH or 5.1CH modes. In 5.1CH mode the optical SPDIF output delivers Dolby Digital or DTS bitstreams, while the RCA outputs are limited to two-channel PCM stereo. This selector determines whether the extractor can feed a surround decoder or only a stereo system.

Choose Pass to send the original HDMI audio unchanged, 2CH for stereo PCM through both optical and RCA, or 5.1CH for Dolby Digital or DTS via optical only.
The extractor passes video up to 3840x2160 or 4096x2160 at 30 Hz with 24, 30 or 36-bit deep colour, so 60 Hz 4K content will be limited to 30 Hz.
Optical SPDIF carries 5.1CH Dolby Digital and DTS, plus 2CH PCM; Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD, DTS-HD and 7.1 LPCM are not supported over optical.
