HDMI Audio Extractor for 4K 60 Hz Sources

The ESTONE OZV8-1A takes one HDMI input and splits it into an HDMI pass-through plus separate optical Toslink and 3.5 mm analog outputs. It is aimed at owners of soundbars, AV receivers or headphone amplifiers who need to pull audio from a console, streaming box or Blu-ray player without routing video through the display first.

HDMI 2.0b Bandwidth and Format Limits

The 18 Gbps link caps video at 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz with HDCP 2.2 and 3D support. Supported digital audio formats include DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD, LPCM 7.1, DTS and Dolby AC-3; Dolby Digital Plus is not supported. ARC allows return audio from a compatible TV, but the extractor cannot handle higher bandwidths or refresh rates beyond the 2.0b specification.

Compact Metal Enclosure with Integrated Cables

The black housing measures 5.59 x 3.15 x 1.26 inches and weighs 3.2 ounces, so it sits unobtrusively behind a rack or TV stand. A USB power adapter, HDMI cable and optical cable are included, meaning the only daily task is plugging the extractor between source and display and choosing optical or 3.5 mm for the audio path.

Questions about this item

Should I use the optical Toslink or the 3.5 mm jack for my soundbar?

Use the optical Toslink for multi-channel formats such as DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD or LPCM 7.1; the 3.5 mm jack carries stereo analog only.

Will 4K at 60 Hz work through this extractor to my TV?

Yes, the unit passes 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz with 18 Gbps bandwidth and HDCP 2.2, so the TV receives the full 4K 60 Hz signal while audio is split out.

What does the ARC label on the optical and 3.5 mm ports actually do?

ARC lets the extractor send audio from the TV's internal apps back to a soundbar or amplifier through the same optical or 3.5 mm connection without a separate cable.
