Nylon braid and E-Marker chip

The braided jacket protects the copper conductors during frequent plugging and routing. An integrated E-Marker chip negotiates PD 3.1 Extended Power Range so the cable delivers only the voltage and current the connected device requests, preventing over-voltage while supporting 48 V at 5 A.

USB4 Gen 3x2 practical limits

The 40 Gbps ceiling applies only when both host and peripheral implement USB4 Gen 3x2 or Thunderbolt 3; older USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 2 ports will fall back to lower speeds. DisplayPort Alt Mode must be present on the source for 8K at 60 Hz or dual 4K at 60 Hz video, and the 5 ft length is the maximum passive reach for the full 40 Gbps rate.
