Extends a 22x42mm NVME slot to accept a 22x80mm drive using a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 adapter for Legion Go storage expansion

  • Extends Legion Go storage with a 2280 NVME drive
  • PCI-Express 4.0 x4 link keeps full NVME speed
  • Installs in about 20 minutes for quick upgrades
  • Supports up to 8TB capacity on a single drive
  • Converts 2242 M-Key slot to 2280 M-Key without protocol change

Legion Go storage extension

This adapter connects a 2280 M-Key NVME drive to the Legion Go's 2242 slot using a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 interface. It enables the handheld console to accept full-length solid-state drives for expanded game storage. The part is designed specifically for this device and form-factor conversion.

Who this suits and who it does not

It suits Legion Go owners who want to move from the factory 2242 drive to a larger 2280 NVME module. It does not suit anyone needing to convert NVME to SATA or SATA to NVME because the adapter cannot change the protocol. It also does not suit other handhelds or laptops that use a different keying or length.

Build integration

The male-to-female extension plugs into the existing M-Key slot and positions the 2280 drive in the available internal space. Installation takes roughly 20 minutes and involves cloning the system to the new drive before swapping. The adapter supports up to 8TB of capacity and requires no extra power or cabling.

Questions about this item

What SSD form factor must I already have for this adapter to work?

You need a 2280 NVME SSD; the adapter extends a 2242 slot to accept the longer 2280 drive.

Will this adapter work with the original 2242 NVME drive inside the Legion Go?

The adapter replaces the 2242 drive; you clone the system to a new 2280 NVME SSD and install that combination instead.

How can I confirm the adapter is running at PCI-Express 4.0 x4 after installation?

Check the drive's reported link speed in the Legion Go BIOS or a system-information tool; it should show Gen 4 x4.
