Connects a 2.5" SATA drive to USB 2.0 at up to 480 Mbps with dual USB power, no external supply needed
The HANNORD cable adapter lets you attach any 2.5″ SATA hard drive or SSD to a desktop, laptop or PC through a standard USB 2.0 port. It draws power directly from the host port, so no external supply is required. The 22‑pin 7+15 connector fits both HDDs and SSDs up to 7200 rpm. This suits users who need quick, temporary access to bare drives for backup, cloning or data recovery. It is not for 3.5″ drives or for anyone who needs sustained throughput beyond the USB 2.0 ceiling.
Installation is driver‑free on Windows 98 through 10, Mac OS X and even PS4 — just connect the SATA end to the drive, plug the main USB connector into the computer and attach the second USB lead for extra current. The only common snag is forgetting the supplementary connector, which can leave a 7200 rpm drive under‑powered and unrecognised. Hot‑swap works once both leads are seated. No software configuration is mentioned in the specifications.
The interface tops out at 480 Mbps and is backward compatible with USB 1.1, so real‑world transfer rates will be far below the native SATA III capability of the attached drive. Mechanical 7200 rpm disks and fast SSDs alike will be bottlenecked by the cable, making it unsuitable for running operating systems or editing large media files directly from the drive. For archival copies or occasional file pulls the speed is adequate.
