Business-class 14 inch touchscreen laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G7 is a 14.0 inch touchscreen laptop built for professionals who need a portable Windows 11 Pro machine with a 1920 x 1080 FHD display. It runs on a quad-core Intel Core i5 10210U processor at 1.60 GHz with 6 MB cache and integrates Intel UHD Graphics using shared system memory. The system ships with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD.

Sustained workload behaviour on 15 W quad-core CPU

The 15 W quad-core processor with eight threads handles typical office multitasking and web-based workflows without throttling in normal use. Integrated graphics rely on shared memory, so extended 3D or video rendering tasks will reduce available system RAM and limit frame rates. Thunderbolt 3 ports maintain bandwidth for external GPUs or fast storage during long sessions, while Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5 keep wireless links stable under load.

Grade B cosmetic condition and installation notes

This unit is graded B, meaning the chassis shows visible scratches or surface wear and keys or palm-rest areas may appear shiny from prior use. The screen may carry a very minor blemish that does not affect usability. Overly worn or damaged parts have been replaced, and the package includes the laptop, charger and battery. No optical drive is present, so OS recovery or software installs require USB media or network download.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the 15 W Core i5-10210U get when the EliteBook 840 G7 runs all day?

The 15 W quad-core chip stays cool enough for a thin 14" chassis; fan noise is audible under sustained load but remains office-quiet.

Which cables or docks must I already own to use the two Thunderbolt 3 ports and HDMI output?

You need a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C cable for the two Type-C ports and a standard HDMI cable for the single HDMI port.

Will my older USB 3.0 Type-A peripherals work with the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports on this 840 G7?

Yes, the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports are fully backward compatible with USB 3.0 and 2.0 devices.
